Sometimes money seems so impersonal, but you still want to give.

It was with that simple idea that the Nonprofit Holiday Wish List was started.

For weeks, we asked area nonprofit organizations to send us their listings, naming tangible items that could help them in their organization's missions.

This year, more than 70 nonprofits have participated and their wishes range from copier paper to a van. Each item listed, they tell us, will help them in a small way to help the community.

So readers, it is your turn. There's no right or wrong way to use this list. Pick your favorite nonprofit. Have something specific you can give? Search for it on the list. Discover a new organization that you want to give to. The idea is to simply give.

All we ask is that readers let the nonprofit know that their gift came from this wish list, because we'll check back in January and see how many wishes were granted.

Because of the overwhelming response, we had to split the list. Organizations that begin with letters A through M were published Dec. 2. Nonprofits that begin with N through Z appear in today's Lifestyle section. The complete list is available at www.herald-mail.com/lifestyle.
