The Maryland Symphony Orchestra Guild announces the opening of registration for "Symphony Saturdays," four sessions designed to introduce children in grades 1 to 3 to the instruments of the orchestra and to provide them with hands-on experience. The program will include introduction to woodwind instruments on Feb. 2; brass, Feb. 9; percussion, Feb. 16; and strings, Feb. 23.
The sessions will be at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 141 S. Potomac St., in downtown Hagerstown, with the exception of the percussion session, which will take place at The Maryland Theatre. The cost is $25 per child for all four Saturdays or $20 per child for families with more than one child in that age group. Children must be accompanied by a parent, who may attend free of charge. Registration deadline is Monday, Jan. 28. For more information or to register, go to marylandsymphony.org.
