James and Denise Schlimgen of Smithsburg traveled to Oahu, Hawaii, to celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary. They were married Dec. 21, 1985, at Evangel Baptist Church in Hagerstown.
While in Hawaii, they stayed at the Pacific Beach Hotel in Waikiki and toured the USS Arizona Memorial, the USS Missouri and the Bowfin Submarine at Pearl Harbor. They also toured the North Shore, Diamond Head Monument, Pali Lookout and Portlock on the island of Oahu.
The couple was joined by their daughter and son-in-law, Whitney and Andrew Flood of Leola, Pa., who were married on the island of Oahu during the trip.
The Schlimgens' family also includes a son, Adam, daughter-in-law, Ashlie, and granddaughter, Wregan.
Adam is serving in the U.S. Air Force and is stationed with his family at Moody Air Force Base in Valdosta, Ga., awaiting his second deployment to Afghanistan later this year.
Mr. Schlimgen is the son of Mary Avila of Greenville, S.C. Mrs. Schlimgen is the daughter of Dennis Monn of Hagerstown and Janet Monn of Smithsburg.
Mr. Schlimgen is employed at Lehigh Phoenix in Hagerstown, while Mrs. Schlimgen is a home day care provider.
