The Washington County Museum of Fine Arts has announced the receipt of a bequest from the estate of Elizabeth S. "Liz" Niemyer. The bequest has no restrictions on its use.

Niemyer was born in Waynesboro, Pa., and grew up in the Blue Ridge Summit area. She received a bachelor of arts degree from Wilson College and did graduate work at the University of Virginia. In 1950 she joined the accessions office at the Folger Shakespeare Library in Washington, D.C. In 1987 she became the first acquisitions curator and later became internationally recognized as a leader in her field.
