READ THE DOCUMENT: Pa. governor's suit against the NCAA
The NCAA stepped beyond the realm of athletics when it punished Penn State and its football team for the Jerry Sandusky sexual abuse scandal, Gov. Tom Corbett said Wednesday announcing a suit to have the sanctions dismissed.
The suit, filed Wednesday afternoon in federal court in Harrisburg, argues the National Collegiate Athletic Association did not cite "a single NCAA rule that Penn State has broken" when imposing sanctions. Instead, it says, the NCAA harmed the state's economy by "crippling Penn State football [...] by exploiting, to burnish its own often derided public reputation, a tragic and notorious child sexual abuse scandal."
