Dr. Martin Michael “Mike” Cutler will speak at 3:15 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. today at Northern State University's Johnson Fine Arts Center room 134.

“Who We Used to Be” will explore the phenomenon of suicide among American Indians from historical, social, cultural and spiritual perspectives, according to a news release.

For Native American men 15-39, the suicide rate in South Dakota is four times the death rate of their white counterparts in the state, according to the release.

Cutler, a former Aberdeen resident and NSU graduate now of Boise, Idaho, is a licensed professional counselor and enrolled member of the Fort Hall Shoshone-Bannock Tribe of Fort Hall Idaho, according to the release.
