Julia Friedrichsen of Aberdeen was among students selected to receive a $50 tuition reimbursement for the 2012-13 school year from the Catholic Order of Foresters. Friedrichsen is the daughter of Eugene and Jo Ellen Friedrichsen and attends St. Mary's Catholic Church in Aberdeen.
Elizabeth A. Kolar has received an Army ROTC scholarship from South Dakota State University in Brookings. Upon graduation from the ROTC program, the student cadet receives a bachelor’s degree and a commission of second lieutenant in the Army. Kolar is the daughter of Paul and Mary Kolar of Eureka and a 2011 graduate of Eureka High School.
Lindsey Merkel of Aberdeen was awarded the Vucurevich Foundation Scholarship in Nursing for the 2012-13 academic year at South Dakota State University in Brookings. Merkel, a graduate of Aberdeen Central High School, is a senior majoring in nursing at South Dakota State University and the daughter of Rusty and Holly Merkel.
Olivia Siglin of Webster was among students selected to attend the Agriculture Future of America Leaders Conference in Kansas City, Mo., in November. Siglin, a student at South Dakota State University in Brookings, engaged with agriculture and food industry professionals, developing skills needed to put scholastic and training into action.
