Since capital punishment is an option, not a requirement, it should not be ended ("Death penalty repeal moves forward," March 14).

Instead, it should remain available for really heinous behavior — such as the Washington state man who was picked up by his grandparents on his release from prison, went to their house to celebrate and then murdered them both.

If not the death penalty what does such a person deserve?
