Hagerstown Police were looking Thursday for a 33-year-old man believed to be involved in a child abuse incident.

Investigators have an arrest warrant for Brian Michael Miller on charges of first-degree child abuse, second-degree child abuse, first-degree assault, second-degree assault and reckless endangerment, according to a news release. No address was given for Miller.

Miller is described as being white, 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighing 155 pounds. Investigators were asking anyone who might know Miller's whereabouts to call police as soon as possible.

On Wednesday, police were sent to Meritus Medical Center for a sick/injured 2-year-old, the release said. It was determined that the child was suffering serious injuries that were suspicious, the release said.

The child's condition was determined to have been caused by "criminal means," the release said.

Sgt. Jim Hurd said Wednesday night that he could not go into details about the child's injuries.

"They're critical injuries," Hurd said.

The child was transferred to Children's National Medical Center in Washington, D.C., Hurd said.
