Advisories are issued when the forecast shows a high chance of reaching a heat index of 105 degrees or higher.

Due to the advisory, the Market Faire in Hagerstown will have limited hours from 9 a.m. to noon today, city officials said in a news release Tuesday.

Vendors will still have fresh produce, flowers and more available for purchase during these hours, the release said.

Thursday's forecast for Hagerstown calls for a high near 98 degrees and a heat index of 102, according to the National Weather Service.
