Patrons of Washington County Free Library were generous over the holiday season. During December, the library collected gently used books and toys to benefit CASA, or Citizens Assisting and Sheltering the Abused.
Originally the program was advertised to the teen population. However, patrons of all ages began bringing in items.
“We received so many items, I was afraid I’d have to rent a truck to take them over,” said Mary Rogers, a library associate in the children’s department.
On Jan. 17, Rogers, along with Patricia Wishard, marketing and program librarian, delivered 10 large boxes and bags of toys, books and clothing to a regional CASA shelter.
