The Maryland Holstein Scholarship Committee will make available scholarships to Maryland Holstein youth.
The scholarships will be presented at the Maryland Holstein Convention hosted by Carroll County, Md., in March.
The scholarships are offered to Maryland youth who are enrolled or have been enrolled in a dairy project with Holstein cattle and are available to both undergraduate and graduate students. Students may be attending a two-year or four-year degree-granting institution in a college of agriculture; or a four-year program in a nonagricultural area of study.
Applications can be obtained by contacting Arthur and Peggy Johnson, committee co-chairs, at 301-972-8274 or by going to the University of Maryland Dairy website at http://ansc.umd.edu/extension/dairy/news/. Applications must by typed in the space allotted using a 12-point font. An official academic transcript, along with a recent wallet-size photo (head shot only) must accompany the application. All applications must be postmarked no later than Jan. 15.
Started in 1973, the scholarship program has grown in the number of awards given and the monetary levels due to the continued support and generosity of Maryland Holstein members and friends.
