FAYETTEVILLE, Pa. —
Pennsylvania State Police are investigating an incident in which a man impersonating a police officer stopped a Chambersburg, Pa., woman driving near U.S. 30 and New Lane on Saturday morning, according to a news release from the state police.The woman was told she was pulled over because of a burned out brake light, the release states. The incident occurred at 12:20 a.m. Saturday, according to the release.
The man was driving a dark-colored vehicle with a red and blue light bar on top, the release states. There was a star-shaped badge on the man’s shirt, but he was not wearing any police equipment, the release states.
The man did not identify himself as a police officer, but took the woman’s information and then returned it to her and told her to leave, the release states.
The suspect was described as a white man with a medium build, about 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighing about 180 pounds, the release states.
