The woman who was wounded was in good condition Sunday at Meritus Medical Center off Robinwood Drive, but Sgt. Jim Hurd said he did not have an update on the condition of the woman Monday morning. The woman, who was in a front room of the duplex, was shot in the leg, he said.
Meritus Medical Center no longer provides information on patient conditions.
Capt. Mark Holtzman said city police have been receiving calls from the public offering information about the incident and he encouraged people to keep calling.
“It’s been helpful,” Holtzman said Monday afternoon.
Witnesses told police a white Chrysler 300 was seen driving away right after the shooting, and a car matching that description was found parked around the corner on Main Avenue, Hurd said.
Efforts to contact the owner had been unsuccessful as of Monday morning, Hurd said. The address on the vehicle’s registration was no longer the address of the owner, he said.
Hurd said Sunday he did not think the wounded woman was a full-time resident of the house.
The shooting occurred at 1:45 a.m. Sunday, police said. Witnesses told investigators that two men approached the duplex at 209 Summer St. on foot and opened fire, police said.
The weapons used in the shooting were a .45-caliber handgun and a .380-caliber handgun, Hurd said.
“There were a lot of kids in there,” Hurd said of the duplex.
There were five adults among the dozen or more people inside at the time of the shooting, he said.
Most of the people in the house were asleep when the shooting occurred, Hurd said Sunday.
Hurd said there was no detailed description of the shooters.
