A possible pipe bomb in a Moller Avenue home was found Friday to be inert and filled with paper documents, according to a news release from the Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Bomb Squad.

The suspected pipe bomb, reported at 2:59 p.m. Friday at 1122 Moller Ave., near Virginia Avenue south of Wilson Boulevard, was rendered safe, the news release states.

The device was discovered by a real estate employee, the release states. The vacant one-story home is owned by Federal National Mortgage Association, the release states.

Hagerstown Fire Department and the Volunteer Fire Co. of Halfway responded, the release states.
