Archaeologists Scott Parker and Doug Stine will lead a workshop on exploring a historic cemetery without digging into the soil.

The workshop will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, June 28, at Renfrew Park, 1010 E. Main St., Waynesboro. The rain date is Thursday, July 5.

“Not All Archaeology is Digging: Exploring the Covenanter Cemetery” is designed for students who have completed grades 6 to 12, the workshop is limited to 10 participants.

The workshop fee is $25 for members of Renfrew Institute and $30 for nonmembers. Registration is required by Thursday, June 21.

Students will learn how to record and map elements of the cemetery without digging, Parker said. They will create a map of the cemetery and note the location of visible gravestones, potential unmarked graves and the topography of the site.
