The southbound lanes of Interstate 81 near Interstate 70 are now open, a Washington County 911 dispatcher said.
The lanes had been closed because of debris from a sofa bed in the road, according to Maryland State Police and a 911 dispatcher.
The lanes were closed until crews could respond to clean up the debris, a state police spokesman said.
The state police spokesman said he believes the sofa bed might have fallen off a truck.
