Burhans Blvd. crash

One person was taken to the hospital after an accident involving a taxi and a pickup truck at the intersection of Burhans Boulevard and Chase Street south of the railroad underpass Thursday morning, Mike Alderton of the Hagerstown Police Department said.

The 7 a.m. accident occurred when a Chevrolet Silverado heading south on Burhans Boulevard crossed the middle of the road and collided with the front of a Chevrolet Cavalier taxi from C&R Sedan that was headed north, Alderton said.

There were no passengers in either vehicle, Alderton said.

The driver of the taxi was taken to Meritus Medical Center, Alderton said.

The driver of the pickup truck was put on a stretcher and into an ambulance. He later walked out of the ambulance and left in the tow truck that was towing his vehicle.

In addition to the Hagerstown Police Department, a firetruck from the Hagerstown Fire Department and an ambulance from Hagerstown Community Rescue Service were on the scene.

Burhans Boulevard was blocked off until the scene was cleared around 7:50 a.m.
