A Waynesboro, Pa., man has been charged in a Monday morning accident at the intersection of Cleveland Avenue and McKinley Street in which one woman died and two other people were seriously injured, Chambersburg police said.
Heather Coble, 25, of Shippensburg, Pa., died at Chambersburg Hospital following the 12:16 a.m. accident, Franklin County Coroner Jeffrey Conner said Monday evening. An autopsy will be performed Wednesday, he said.
Two other people, Nicholas Fortenberry, 30, and Madison Perry, 24, both of Shippensburg, were in the same vehicle as Coble and were flown to York (Pa.) Hospital. Both were in serious condition, a hospital spokeswoman said Monday evening.
Agustin Macias-Marquez, 27, of Waynesboro, was charged with homicide by vehicle while driving under the influence, homicide by vehicle, two counts of aggravated assault while driving under the influence and related traffic offenses, Chambersburg police said.
Macias-Marquez was treated and released from Chambersburg Hospital, after which he was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Glenn Manns, police said. Macias-Marquez was jailed on $350,000 bond, police said.
Macias-Marquez was driving on Cleveland Avenue when he struck a vehicle driven by Fortenberry, who was driving on McKinley Street, police said.
The force of the impact sent both vehicles into a house on the corner of the intersection, police said.
