Teens charged with battery

Two Salton Sea-area teenagers were booked on battery charges by Imperial County sheriff’s deputies Saturday afternoon.

The teens, 15 and 16 years old, reportedly locked their siblings and grandmother out of their home after having struck them, according to sheriff’s log records.

Man reportedly  hit while asleep

A Niland resident contacted Imperial County sheriff’s deputies Sunday morning after he said he was beaten in his sleep by a suspect who entered his trailer home the previous night while the resident was intoxicated.

The man requested medical aid and was transported to Pioneers Memorial Hospital in Brawley after informing sheriff’s deputies of the incident and complaining of stomach pains, according to sheriff’s log records.

Woman sought exit from home

An elderly Heber woman contacted Imperial County sheriff’s deputies because her son allegedly kept her and her husband against their wishes, according to sheriff’s log records.

When deputies arrived at the home it was discovered that she wanted to go outside, but when she was placed in her wheelchair she was unable to do so, according to logs.

Man tries to get woman in van

A man in Brawley allegedly attempted to force a woman into his van Sunday morning, according to the Imperial County Sheriff’s Office.

The man was in a black van near Highway 86 and the New River bottom, according to sheriff’s logs.

Deputies gave the man a disturbing the peace verbal warning, according to logs.

3 prison visitors arrested

Calipatria State Prison staff arrested three people Sunday in separate incidences after prison staff found drugs in their possession, according to a prison official.

In the first incident around 7:45 a.m., the prison gatehouse officer noticed a strong odor of marijuana coming from a vehicle driven by visitor Angela Ramos, 23, of Santa Maria, who was listed as a friend of inmate Juan J. Garcia, 26, Calipatria Lt. Jorge Santana said.

Officers found three bags of suspected marijuana weighing a total of 176 grams, 12 beers, packaging material and a scale upon a subsequent search of the vehicle.

CAL Investigative Services Unit officers arrested Ramos and her passenger, Maximus Navarette Contreras, who was not listed as an approved visitor, and they were transported to Imperial County jail. The rental vehicle was impounded.

In the second incident around 9:30 a.m., visiting processing staff noticed visitor Syletta Tymyra Johnson, 38, of National City, acting suspiciously while being processed to visit inmate Sabubu Badili Rountree, 38, of San Diego.

Prison staff then found a bindle of suspected methamphetamine weighing 4.6 grams and six bindles of suspected marijuana weighing a total of 11.6 grams on Johnson during a search.

Johnson was arrested and transported to Imperial County jail.
