Native American artifacts were destroyed in a fire at the Ocean Crest Resort in Moclips Monday, the Museum of the North Beach said.
No injuries were reported in the fire, which damaged the restaurant, lounge and gift shop.
But Kelly Calhoun, president and curator of the Museum of the North Beach, said some of its Native American artifacts being stored at the resort were lost in the fire. The resort was keeping the artifacts until the museum had received grant money to rebuild the former Moclips Northern Pacific Depot as its new home.
"We are very saddened over this tragedy for the Curtright family and Moclips," Calhoun said.
The pieces included some traditional Quinault Indian baskets and items from early settlers on the Washington coast.
The cause of the fire was not immediately known.
