The Kansas Department of Health and Environment suspends the license of a Wichita day care home where a child was found dead.

According to a report from the KDHE, the permit for Amy's Lil Angels day care home in the 3800 block of east Orme was suspended Thursday.

Wichita Police found a one year old dead in the home Wednesday afternoon. Investigators say it appears he was asphyxiated after being caught up in something in a play pen.

The KDHE report says the suspension comes because of a complaint being investigated by the Wichita Police Department. It says the day care owner was cited for "a lack of sound judgement and an understanding of children as well as lack of supervision and using a level of the day care home that was denied for use by the fire inspector."

The KDHE report says the order is necessary to protect the health and safety of children.
