A July 14 preliminary hearing was scheduled in Washington County District Court for a Hagerstown man charged with raping a mentally disabled woman.
William Glenn Hungerford, 52, of 61 E. Franklin St., Apt. 1, was in court Friday for a bond hearing on charges of second-degree rape, second- and third-degree sex offenses, second-degree assault and sodomy, court records said. Judge Ralph H. France II kept Hungerford’s bail at $150,000.
A Hagerstown police detective met with the 57-year-old woman Wednesday at Easter Seals Adult Day Services, the statement of probable cause said. She told the investigator she had been in a group home, but moved in with a relative in March, the document said.
Hungerford lived in the same residence and began sexually assaulting the woman about a month later, the charging document said.
A friend of Hungerford was in another room of the apartment during one of the incidents and told investigators he heard the woman telling Hungerford to stop, the charging document said.
Hungerford was interviewed by police Thursday and taken into custody, the charging document said.
