An intentionally set fire caused $50,000 in damages to a vacant, two-story house Wednesday at 16612 National Pike near Hagerstown, the Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office said.
The fire was set in the attic of the home at about 5:30 p.m., according to a fire marshal’s office news release.
It took 55 firefighters from Maugansville, Hagerstown, Williamsport, Halfway, Longmeadow, Clear Spring, Washington County Special Operations and Greencastle, Pa., about 45 minutes to get the fire under control, the fire marshal’s office said.
The structure was owned by Christy McElhany.
