Volunteer Washington County will be hosting an e-recycling program again this year as part of its MLK Day of Service and Celebration.
County residents interested in participating in the program can drop off items between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. Monday at one of the following locations:
• Washington County Franklin Street Parking lot (137 W. Franklin St., Hagerstown)
• Boonsboro High School
• Clear Spring High School
• Smithsburg High School
Items that will be accepted for recycling by Horizon Goodwill include:
Computers (all makes and models); laptops (all makes and models); computer keyboards, mice and speakers; computer monitors (all makes, models and sizes); printers (all makes, models and sizes); toner and ink cartridges (full or empty); and scanners (all sizes, makes and models).
Items that will be accepted for recycling by Freedom Electronics Recycling include:
Fax machines (all sizes, makes and models); plotters (all sizes, makes and models); copiers (all sizes, makes and models); cell phones and other hand-held devices (all makes and models); LCD projectors; VCRs, CD and DVD players (all makes and models); stereo and audio equipment (all makes and models); cables and cords; portable players (all makes and models); battery backups (with or without battery); microwave ovens.
The Washington County government will accept up to two TVs per car, with each screen measuring no larger than 32 inches.
Items not accepted for recycling include:
Light bulbs (any and all varieties); air conditioners; refrigerators; dehumidifiers; smoke detectors; rear projection TVs; washers and dryers; and water coolers.
