A Washington County Detention Center inmate was taken to Meritus Medical Center on Sunday as a precaution after a fight with another inmate, Sheriff Douglas Mullendore said Monday.
A 911 supervisor said Sunday there was a call at 12:34 p.m. Sunday for a head injury at the Washington County Detention Center at 500 Western Maryland Parkway.
Mullendore said there was no head injury and the inmate returned from the hospital to the detention center on Sunday.
The two men got into a fight in a general population housing unit, Mullendore said. At least one officer broke up the fight, he said.
The other inmate involved in the fight was not charged criminally, but was put in solitary confinement awaiting a hearing, Mullendore said. That inmate faces disciplinary action that could range from 30 to 60 days in solitary, he said.
