Eastbound Interstate 70 rear mile marker 6 east of Hancock was closed for more than seven hours Friday morning following a tractor-trailer fire, according to Maryland State Police.
The fire was reported at about 3:30 a.m., state police said in a news release.
The tractor-trailer was believed to have been hauling rubber products, state police Cpl. C.J. Barnard a supervisor with Washington County Emergeny Services said.
The accident scene was about a mile east of Exit 5 from I-70 to Md. 615.
Eastbound traffic was rerouted onto Md. 615 and back onto eastbound I-70 after a two-mile detour, police said.
The road had reopened at approximately 11:10 a.m., the release said.
