As Memorial Day weekend approaches, gasoline prices continue to slide.
The national average for regular grade gas dropped for the sixth consecutive week down to $3.69 from $3.73 per gallon, according to the AAA Mid-Atlantic Weekend Gas Watch. It was $3.89 a gallon at this time last year.
The price continues to fall in the Hagerstown area, where the average is now $3.59 per gallon, down from $3.63 last week and $3.90 this time last year. The average on Wednesday in the area was $3.57 per gallon, according to the AAA Fuel Price Finder at midatlantic.aaa.com.
The Shell station at the intersection of Washington Avenue and Nottingham Road was selling regular grade gas at $3.65, plus grade at $3.75 and 93-octane premium grade at $3.89 per gallon.
Down the street, the Liberty Gas Station at the intersection of West Washington Street and Nottingham Road was selling regular grade at $3.53, midgrade at $3.63 and 93-octane premium grade at $3.73 per gallon.
The BP Station in Sharpsburg at the intersection of Md. 34 and Md. 65 was selling regular grade at $3.62, silver grade at $3.82 and 93-octane ultimate grade at $3.92 per gallon.
The Sheetz station at the intersection of Md. 63 and U.S. 40 was selling regular grade at $3.58 a gallon, but it was $3.55 with the company’s discount offers. Plus grade was selling at $3.68, and 93-octane Super grade was $3.78 per gallon.
The Exxon Station at the intersection of Dual Highway and Edgewood Drive was selling regular grade at $3.55, plus grade at $3.65, 93-octane Supreme at $3.75 and diesel fuel at $3.95 per gallon.
The largest price drop in the region was in theWashington, D.C., area this week, where the average price fell from $3.76 to $3.68, making it slightly lower than the national average.
The state average dropped from $3.68 per gallon to $3.63 this week.
The average price dropped from $3.65 to $3.60 a gallon in Baltimore; from $3.69 to $3.62 in Cumberland; and from $3.56 to $3.53 in Salisbury.
Crude oil was at $91.48 per barrel on Friday, down from $96.13 the previous week and $110 the previous year.
