HAGERSTOWN —
Gas prices once again rose nationally and locally as they continue to climb as fall approaches, according to figures from the AAA Daily Fuel Gauge Report.Regular grade gasoline nationally averaged $3.85 per gallon Tuesday afternoon, up from $3.84 last week. The price was the same in Hagerstown, but the jump was higher, as it was $3.78 last week. Throughout the rest of the state of Maryland, prices were at $3.79 on average, up from $3.78 last week. Prices in the state ranged on average from $3.76 to $3.91.
Prices are expected to drop by the end of this month, as gas at the pumps is expected to be switched to winter-blended gasoline, according to the AAA Mid-Atlantic Weekend Gas Watch.
Around the Hagerstown area Tuesday, the Sheetz station on Virginia Avenue (U.S. 11) just south of Halfway Boulevard sold regular grade gas at $3.88 per gallon. Plus grade was $3.98, and kerosene was $3.99. Regular-grade gas was $3.85 per gallon with company discounts.
The AC&T Station on Wesel Boulevard sold regular-grade gas at $3.79, plus grade at $3.89, 93-octane premium grade at $4.09 and diesel at $3.99.
Near Williamsport, the Sunoco Station on U.S. 11 just off of Interstate 81 at Exit 2 sold regular-grade gas at $3.85 per gallon, plus grade at $3.99, 93-octane Ultra grade at $4.19 and diesel at $4.09.
The Liberty station on Sharpsburg Pike just south of Interstate 70 at Exit 32 sold regular-grade gas at $3.83 per gallon, mid-grade at $3.93 and 93-octane premium grade at $4.16.
The Pilot Travel Center at the intersection of Halfway Boulevard and Hopewell Road sold regular-grade gas at $3.79, 92-octane premium grade at $4.05 per gallon and diesel at $4.17.
Around the state Tuesday, the average price of regular-grade gas was $3.77 in the Baltimore area, $3.91 in Cumberland, $3.76 in Salisbury and $3.81 in the Maryland suburbs of Washington, D.C.
