A fire started Wednesday night where an electrical line connects into an apartment at 119 East Ave., a Hagerstown Fire Department spokesman said.

The line was arcing after firefighters were alerted to the fire at 9:50 p.m., said Battalion Chief Brian Pyle.
“It was pretty spectacular for a while,” Pyle said.

Firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze, although a person leasing the apartment had to be moved into another apartment in the building overnight, Pyle said.
