A Hagerstown man was arrested Wednesday after he allegedly broke into what had been his residence, according to Hagerstown police.
Ryan Lee Kleckner, 20, of 10806 Rosewood Drive, was charged with third- and fourth-degree burglary and malicious destruction of property in excess of $500, according to Washington County District Court records.
Kleckner is a part-time district manager in the Circulation Department of The Herald-Mail.
District Judge R. Noel Spence lowered Kleckner’s bond from $7,500 to $1,000 at 10 percent, meaning he could post bond with $100. Kleckner posted bond Thursday, court records said.
Shortly after 5 p.m. Wednesday, police went to 1191 Fairchild Ave. for a report of a burglary, the statement of probable cause said. Police set up a perimeter and could hear the sounds of items being broken inside the residence, the document said.
A man came out the back door and was ordered to the ground by police, the charging document said. He was identified as Kleckner, the document said.
Inside the residence, police found five broken overhead lights, broken bathroom mirrors, a sink broken off the wall and a damaged stove, the charging document said.
A broken television on the deck of the residence was determined to belong to Kleckner, the charging document said.
Kleckner told police he was the tenant and was checking to see what had been broken in the residence, the charging document said. However, he told police he currently was living at a Delaware Avenue residence, the document said.
