Hagerstown police said they were searching for a man wearing a red-hooded sweatshirt who tried to rob a person at gunpoint early Thursday in the unit block of West Baltimore Street.
The victim told police that he was in the area at about 2:45 a.m., when a dark Saturn sport-utility vehicle approached him, according to a Hagerstown Police Department news release.
Police said a black male wearing a red-hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans and a red cover over his face got out of the vehicle and pointed a handgun at the victim.
Officers said the man demanded property, but the victim fled and was able to get away.
