It was unclear if the man was in the building during the day, said sheriff’s office spokeswoman Carly Hose.

Hose said she could not go into extensive detail about what was stolen, but electronics, personal items and cash were taken.

Authorities learned that something had occurred in the building when it was noticed that some offices were disheveled and that some items were missing, Hose said.

People can easily walk into the county offices although Hose said she hopes workers are vigilant to anyone who appears suspicious.

Anyone with information about the thefts can call the sheriff’s office at 240-313-2170.
