Wolfe’s Den tavern fined for allowing patrons to drink on patio
The Wolfe’s Den tavern in Smithsburg was fined $500 on Wednesday for allowing patrons to drink alcohol on the business’ patio without having a permit.
The Board of License Commissioners for Washington County fined the business during a Wednesday hearing at the liquor board office at 148 W. Washington St. in Hagerstown.
Brenda Wolfe, owner of the Wolfe’s Den at 6 W. Water St., said she allowed customers to smoke on the patio to prevent them from gathering out front, but she didn’t know that some of them were drinking alcohol.
She assured the liquor board that customers would not be permitted to take their drinks on the patio in the future.
Potential buyers of former Shamrock Inn say they want liquor license
Two Fayetteville, Pa., men told Washington County liquor officials on Wednesday that they wanted a liquor license to reopen the former Shamrock Inn west of Hagerstown.
Norm Brookens and David Meyers said during a discussion before the Board of License Commissioners for Washington County that they expected to know within the next few weeks whether financing would be available to purchase the business at 15411 National Pike.
They asked about the types of liquor licenses that were available.
Brookens said after the discussion that they wanted to rename the business the Pit Stop and serve breakfast, lunch and dinner.
He said they wanted to renovate the existing bar and restaurant, and provide live entertainment.
