Always Ron’s employee wants to open restaurant
A Hagerstown restaurant worker told Washington County liquor officials earlier this week that he wants to make a go at opening a restaurant downtown.
Jay Zuspan, an employee at Always Ron’s restaurant on Burhans Boulevard, said during a hearing before the Board of License Commissioners for Washington County that he wanted to apply for a liquor license because he intends to open a restaurant around September at 28 S. Potomac St.
The location was the site of the former Taj India restaurant from 2009 to February of this year and Duffy’s restaurant from 2006-09.
Zuspan said after the hearing that he has 14 years of experience in the restaurant business. He said he plans to serve American cuisine and employ about 20 people.
Toppings Pizza owners seek to open another restaurant
The owners of Toppings Pizza Co. off Robinwood Drive in Hagerstown said Wednesday that they want to open another restaurant on Maugans Avenue.
Greg and Marjorie Kane told the Board of License Commissioners for Washington County, known as the liquor board, that they planned to open another pizza shop at 18503 Maugans Avenue. They said they asked for the hearing to apply for a liquor license at the new restaurant.
“We’re shooting for a December opening,” Greg Kane said.
The Kanes said the new restaurant would feature woodfire pizza. They said they plan to call it Flipside.
