"It's not about the building it's about the people's lives, it's not about women it's about families, and it's not about what we do here today it's about our future" said Mayor Parker.

Prevention Park is a 7-story 78,000 square foot administrative and health care facility.

It boasts family planning, a central lab that provides research and HIV Testing, a call center, and a surgical center which provides among other things vasectomies and abortions.

Currently the Gulf Freeway location offers abortions through 16 weeks. In the coming month staff at Planned Parenthood tell 39 News they hope to provide abortions up to 20 weeks, so-called 'late term abortions'.

According to Planned Parenthood almost 93% of all medical services offered through the non-profit are prevention related. Abortion services and vasectomies account for 7% of services.

The new building boasts increased security, with a fence surrounding the grounds and a fenced parking lot for patients and staff. Prevention Park can accommodate a 30% increase in client volume.
