AARP Chapter 623 of Washington County will meet Tuesday, May 8, at 1 p.m. in the auditorium of Western Maryland Hospital Center, 1500 Pennsylvania Ave. in Hagerstown.
The speaker will be Hilary Lowe, community educator with the Washington County Commission on Aging. She will show a recently made video showing local seniors involved in activities at the senior center. For more information, call Donna Souders at 301-797-3578.
Jim Powers will hold his ballroom dance party Friday from 7 to 10 p.m. at the Maugansville Ruritan Building.

An all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast will be held Saturday from 7 to 11 a.m. at Christ Reformed United Church of Christ, 22514 Cavetown Church Road.
The menu includes sausage, eggs, orange juice and coffee.
Tickets cost $6 for adults, $5 for those ages 6 to 12 and are free for those younger than 6. Carryout will be available.

The Mansion House Art Center will participate in the Washington County museum ramble Saturday and Sunday.
Displays will be set up in the galleries and on the porch. It will be open Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m. There is no charge.
In addition, Valley Art Association photography members will exhibit “Shoot the Civil War” in the North Gallery of the Mansion House, which is in Hagerstown City Park.
The exhibit will be on display Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m.
Yard and bake sale
A yard and bake sale will be held Saturday, May 12, from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Stonecroft Apartments, a housing unit for senior citizens. Items for sale include household items, jewelry and women’s bicycles. The event is sponsored by the Stonecroft Tenants Association to raise funds for activities for seniors. The apartment complex is on King Crest Boulevard off Robinwood Drive.
Public safety awards
Hagerstown Community College will host the annual public safety awards ceremony Thursday, May 17, beginning at 6 p.m. at Kepler Center.
The awards recognize officers who have served the citizens of Washington County in an exemplary manner during the past year. The public is invited to attend the event. Light refreshments will be served.
