Senior center volunteers
The senior center is seeking greeters stationed at the registration area to meet seniors who visit the center.
Since the new year began, the center has seen many new participants visiting the center. The staff needs greeters Mondays and Fridays, and other afternoons during the week.

St. Mary Catholic School
Tuesday is Bulls and Bears Restaurant Night for St. Mary Catholic School. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Home School Association.
Monday, Jan. 17 — No school in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

On the first weigh-in of the New Year, TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) Chapter 0077 had losses of 12 1/2 pounds.
The best TOPS losers were Donna Blackowitz and Elsie Horst. The best KOPS losers were Joan Budny and Lu Marletta. Janice Frye and Horst split the get-r-done prize. Horst won the Ha! Ha! prize. The no-no snack is potato chips.
Cheryl Bowen and Rose Shockey won the accumulated no-no prize. The biggest loser for 2010 was Blackowitz. Peggy Robinson and Shockey won the December weight-loss challenge. Terri Hendricks gave her Pound Puppy to Patsy Martin.
The “Hang On” contest begins next week.
Sharron Twigg presented the program titled “Resolutions/Renovation.” It is reported that most New Year’s resolutions last seven days. Steps for resolution success are commitment, being specific, having coping strategies, support and tracking progress. Trudy Heather composed a poem titled “Resolution 2011.”
The group meets Mondays at First Christian Church, 1345 Potomac Ave. in Hagerstown.

Red Cross training planned Jan. 19
The Washington County Chapter of the American Red Cross will conduct CPR/AED training for the professional rescuer/health care provider Wednesday, Jan. 19, at 131 Conrad Court in Hagerstown.
