Basket bingo

Antietam Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary will host a basket bingo Sunday at Western Enterprise Fire Department, 526 Washington Square. 

Doors open at 12:30 p.m. and bingo starts at 1 p.m. 

All profits will be used to purchase and supply the new Antietam Fire Co. that is being relocated to Potomac Avenue in Hagerstown.

Tickets cost $20. There will be raffles and tip jars, and the kitchen will be open for purchases.

Yard and bake sale

Paramount Brethren in Christ Church on Longmeadow Road will hold its spring yard and bake sale Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The event will be held rain or shine. 

Proceeds will go to the Operation Christmas Child shoe box project that sends personal items and toys to children in need.

Losses for the week totaled 33 3/4 pounds for TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) Chapter 0077.

Charles House was the best loser with a 5 1/2- pound loss, along with Marlene Auda.

The best KOPS (Keep Off Pounds Sensibly) losers were Linda Siebert and Mary Jo Kemper.

The no-no snack for the week is doughnuts. Carol LeClaire won the ha-ha prize.

There are 18 chapter members with less than 20 pounds to lose to reach their goal weights.

Cindy Ryder presented the program on “Truth in Advertising.”

She talked about  functional foods, those foods that promise health claims but whose claims have not been proven. She said www.eatright.org is a good source of information.

The group meets Mondays at First Christian Church 1345 Potomac Ave. in Hagerstown.
