Boonsboro High cheerleaders plan fundraisers

The Boonsboro High School cheerleaders are working diligently to raise money for new cheer gear.  

A fundraiser will be held at CiCi’s Pizza in Hagerstown Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. Partial proceeds from sales during that time will go to the cheerleaders.  


The cheerleaders will also hold a car wash and bake sale at Terry’s Auto in Boonsboro Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.



Bull roast

San Mar Children's Home’s annual bull roast and open house takes place Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the children’s home on Mapleville Road.

The event has an added feature this year — pork has been added to the menu.   

The menu includes roast beef or pork sandwich, side dishes, desserts and beverages provided by Leiter’s Fine Catering.

The event will be held under tents on the front lawn at the children’s home.   

The evening’s festivities will also feature “telling it like it is” building tours by group-home residents. The tours provide a behind-the-scenes look at San Mar’s programs.   

Tickets cost $15 for adults and $10 for those ages 6 to 13. There is no charge for those 5 and younger.

Tickets are available at the administration building at San Mar, from members of San Mar’s Development and PR Committee, and at the customer-service desk at Valley Mall. Tickets are also available by calling 301-733-9067, ext. 101.



Book share

The monthly book share will be held Thursday at 6 p.m. in the Community Room of the Boonsboro Library. Bring a favorite book to discuss and share.



Movie day

Saturday is movie day at the library with a showing of “Mars Needs Moms.” The movie will begin at 11:30 a.m.  Register for library programs by calling 301-432-5723.



Book signing

Turn the Page Book Store will host a book- signing event Saturday from noon to 2 p.m. The event features Nora Roberts/J.D. Robb, Jeanne Adams, Heather Graham, George Pelecanos, and local authors Steve Bockmiller and Tim Rowland.
