Cemetery donation drive set to begin

The donation drive for the maintenance of Samples Manor Church of God Cemetery will be held Saturday and Sunday, May 28 and 29, from 8 a.m. to dusk at the cemetery.

If unable to attend, send donations to Samples Manor Cemetery, P.O. Box 441, Sharpsburg, MD 21782.



Samples Manor Cemetery. Church to hold gospel sing

Samples Manor Church of God on Harpers Ferry Road near Dargan will hold a Memorial Day gospel sing Sunday, May 29, at 2:30 p.m.

The sing will feature Danny Figgins from Front Royal, Va., and Kenny Johnson, the “One-Armed Guitarist” from Bunker Hill, W.Va. Admission is free and a free will offering will be taken to benefit the church cemetery.

Basket bingo planned  

Potomac Valley Fire Co. in Dargan will hold a basket bingo Saturday at the fire hall.  

Doors will open at 11 a.m. and bingo begins at 1 p.m. For more information, call 301-432-2130.



Little League bonanza  

Sharpsburg Little League will hold a cash bonanza Saturday at Williamsport Fire Hall.  

Tickets cost $35 per couple. Doors open at 4 p.m., dinner will be served at 6 p.m., and the drawing will be at 7 p.m. There will be a dance and DJ after the drawing.

The meal consists of chicken, ham and meatballs, baked beans, macaroni salad, coleslaw, deserts, soda and beer. There will also be tip jars and raffles.

The last ticket drawn will win $1,000; every 10th ticket drawn will win $35.

Otzelbergers plan reunion  

A reunion of the Otzelberger family will be held Sunday, June 5, in Pavilion No. 3 at Martin “Marty” Snook Memorial Park in Halfway at 12:30 p.m.

Family members should bring meat, a covered dish, a drink and a place setting.

Most of the Otzelbergers are from the Sharpsburg area.



AYSO to hold registration  

The American Youth Soccer Organization will register players from age 4 to adult Saturday on the fields behind the Boonsboro High School tennis courts from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Registration costs $25 for U5 and U6 players and $40 for U8 through U19 players. There will be a $15 late fee after Aug. 1.
