The community is invited to a soup supper on Maundy Thursday, April 5, at 6:30 p.m. at Covenant Presbyterian Church as church members sit around tables, celebrate communion and participate in a foot-washing ceremony to re-enact Jesus’ Last Supper with his disciples.
The public is invited to the free event.
The church is at 11833 Greenhill Drive off Jefferson Boulevard between Robinwood and Eastern boulevards.
Easter event planned
Ringgold Church of Christ, at 14420 Barkdoll Road in Hagerstown, is inviting families to an Easter event Saturday, April 7, starting at 9 a.m.
The event will begin with a family-style breakfast, followed by the “All Around Easter” program and then end with the egg hunt eggs-travaganza.

Candidates sought for town election
Nominations for the office of council person for the town of Smithsburg are being accepted at the town office until Monday, April 2, at 4 p.m. There are three open seats on the council. Candidates for council position must have lived in the town for at least one year immediately preceding the election and must be qualified voters of the town. The general election will be Tuesday, May 8, from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Town Hall.
