Fire company carnival to start

The Smithsburg Community Volunteer Fire Co. carnival will be held June 25 to 30 from 6 to 11 p.m. each evening.

The carinval will be at 22 N. Main St. in Smithsburg.


Showtimes will be at 7 and 10 p.m.

The schedule is as follows

• Monday, June 25  — Karaoke,  “The Spotlight’s On You”

• Tuesday, June 26 — The Incredible Driftin’ Whistle Pigs

• Wednesday, June 27 — Ritchie Fields

• Thursday, June 28 — Mary Ashby and High Octane

• Friday, June 29 — Kevin Booth; fireworks at 9:30 p.m.

• Saturday, June 30 — Rhett Troxell

Ride all night every night for $16; Thursday Night Special, $12



Children’s Village hosts inaugural race

Children’s Village of Washington County Inc. will host its inaugural 5K run and Kids 1 Mile Fun Run Saturday at its campus at 1546 Mount Aetna Road in Hagerstown.

All participants must be registered.

The 5K Run/Walk begins at 8 a.m. The free Kids 1 Mile Fun Run begins at 9 a.m. and the free Tot Trot starts at 10 a.m.

Registration costs $20 for adults and $15 for students.

Participants and their families are welcome to tour the facility on race day. 

All proceeds benefit the life-safety education program at Children’s Village.

Children’s Village provides the program to more than 2,000 second-graders from public, private and home schools each year.
