Installation held by local Masons

Brothers and guests of Antietam Masonic Lodge 197 held an annual open installation of officers Jan. 15 at the Masonic Temple, 7 S. Main St., Keedysville.

Thirteen Masons, dressed in tuxedoes with white shirts and black ties, white gloves and polished black shoes and wearing Masonic aprons, conducted the traditional Masonic installation ceremony.

Representing 99 Masonic Lodges in Maryland, Grand Inspector James Plunkett and Deputy Grand Inspector Jesse Mills participated in the ceremony.

Marshall Fred Reel conducted the ceremony.

Jeffrey Thomas Stouffer was elected as worshipful master for the 16th year.

Other Masons elected to offices were Marvin Wayne Harmon, senior warden; James Bradley Kalbflesh, junior warden; Matthew John Kalons, secretary; James Randall Burns, treasurer; Charles Thomas Wolfe, senior deacon; Jared Timothy Rohr, junior deacon; William Edward Eisentrout, senior steward; Keith Dominick, junior steward; and Leonard Ulysses Higdon, tyler (outer guard of the Lodge).

Following the ceremony, the Masons and guests had pizza in the Lodge social room.

 

Fire company to hold money bingo Saturday

Potomac Valley Fire Department in Dargan will hold a money bingo Saturday at 1 p.m. at the fire hall.

Doors open at 11:30 a.m. and the kitchen will be open.

Tickets cost $15. There will be 27 games. Specials and raffles will be available.

St. Mark’s to sponsor series

St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, Lappans, will sponsor a six-week series titled “Conversations on Faith and Life” beginning Tuesday, Feb. 5, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the church fellowship center.

Participants are invited to a simple meal followed by a 20-minute DVD presentation by the Rev. Timothy Keller, senior pastor of Redeemer Presbyterian Church, Manhattan, N.Y.

Keller will hold frank conversations with a diverse group of young professionals from various religious backgrounds. Small group discussion follows with a group session at the end of the evening. 

Registration is necessary as seating is limited.
