Battlefield guide Gary Rohrer will speak on “Bridges in the Antietam Valley” Wednesday, Oct. 10, at 7 p.m. at Sharpsburg Town Hall.
Rohrer, a registered professional engineer and an Antietam Battlefield guide, will give a photographic presentation about the restoration processes employed to restore and preserve Washington County’s “legacy in stone.”
Particular emphasis will be on the stone arch bridges in the county and how Civil War armies used them.
The program is presented by the Sharpsburg Historical Society and the Sharpsburg Public Library, a branch of Washington County Free Library.

Samples Manor to hold memorial sing
Samples Manor Church of God, 2128 Harpers Ferry Road near Dargan, will hold the Jean Hanes Memorial Hymn Sing Saturday from 1 to 5 p.m. at the church.
Pastor Kenny Johnson and Church Singers will play and sing, along with Danny Figgins, By Faith Group and the Travis Family.
The event will include an open mic. Food and drinks will be available. Door prizes will be presented.

Breakfast planned
Potomac Valley Fire Co. in Dargan will hold an all-you-can-eat breakfast Saturday from 7:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the fire hall.
The menu includes pancakes, sausage, sausage gravy, scrambled eggs, coffee and orange juice.
The breakfast costs $6. Children eat free.
