The Hagerstown-Washington County Economic Development Commission will announce the winner of the 2012 Washington County Maryland Farm of the Year Saturday, Aug. 25, at noon at the Washington County Agricultural Education Center’s multipurpose building.
Renners celebrate 50th anniversary
Sharpsburg Bible Church Pastor Gene Renner and his wife, Erma, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary July 1. The Renners were married in 1962 at Zittlestown Church of God, now known as Boonsboro Bible Church.
The Revs. Robert Easterday and Paul Hawbaker performed the ceremony. Pastor Renner, formerly a Sharpsburg resident, has served as pastor of Sharpsburg Bible Church for 35 years.
BHS Class of 1977 to hold reunion meeting
The Boonsboro High Class of 1977 will hold a 35th class reunion meeting Sunday, Aug. 26, at 5 p.m. at the home of Sherry Reeder Bingaman off Appletown Road.

Ambulance company to hold barbecue
The Boonsboro Ambulance Co. will hold a chicken barbecue at the station at 7619 Old National Pike, Saturday from 9 a.m. until sold out.
All proceeds will go to the Brigitte and Brittany Heller Scholarship Fund.
Boonsboro resident Brigitte Heller died June 28 from injuries sustained in a vehicle accident.
Heritage Festival seeks vendors
Sharpsburg Heritage Festival organizers are seeking food and craft vendors for the weekend of Saturday, Sept. 15, and Sunday, Sept. 16.
Celebrating its 20th year, the festival coincides with the 150th anniversary of the Battle of Antietam observance.

Heritage festival selling Macy’s passes
Sharpsburg Heritage Festival organizers are selling Macy’s “Shop for a Cause” shopping passes for $5. The pass will allow visitors to save 25 percent all day on regular, sale and clearance items and 10 percent on electrics/electronics, watches, furniture, mattresses and rug/floor coverings on Saturday, Aug. 25.
