Attendees are asked to bring a covered dish, lawn chairs and a camera. Meat will be supplied.
Fire company to hold money bingo event
Potomac Valley Fire Co. in Dargan will hold a money bingo Saturday at the fire hall.
Doors open at 11 a.m. and bingo starts at 1 p.m.
Tickets cost $15 for a nine-pack. Extra packs and specials will be available.
Players must be 18 years old or older. The kitchen will be open.
Author to talk about Confederate veterans
Larry Freiheit, author of “Boots and Saddles, Cavalry During the Maryland Campaign of September 1862,” will speak at the Battle of Sharpsburg Camp 1582, Sons of Confederate Veterans meeting Wednesday, Oct. 3, at 7 p.m. at the Mumma Farmhouse at Antietam National Battlefield.

Lions to assist in eye screenings
The Sharpsburg Lions Club will assist in eye screenings at Potomac Heights Elementary, Ruth Ann Monroe Primary School and Pleasant Valley Elementary during the month of October.
The Lions will also participate in community service events at Reeders Memorial Home and Fahrney-Keedy Home in the Boonsboro area.
The Lions Club meets the first and third Thursdays of the month at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 209 W. Main St. in Sharpsburg.
Leathernecks seek names, addresses
The Leathernecks Nation Motorcycle Club will send cards and packages to military personnel serving in Afghanistan and other deployment locations.
