Only a few days of school are left, and two of those days are field trips. It is so much fun to watch the youngsters use their math skills to figure out the percentage of how many days equal actual classroom time.
With June almost upon us, I am sure that most of you are so busy with graduations, weddings, and other family activities, that your schedules haven’t much room left for anything else. Check out what is happening and see if you can find time to check it out.
Stress and weight
The Washington County Health Department will offer a program titled “EBT: A Scientific Solution for Stress and Weight.”
Orientation for the EBT program will be Thursday, June 2, at 11 a.m. at the health department and at 7:15 p.m. at Western Maryland Hospital Center. Orientation also will be Monday, June 6, at the Brunswick (Md.) Medical Center; Monday, July 11, at 5:30 p.m. at Western Maryland Hospital Center; and Thursday, July 14, at 5:30 p.m. at Robinwood Professional Center.
For more information, call 240-313-3360. The health department’s TTY number is 240-313-3391.
The program was developed by professionals and is designed to help those struggling with weight issues by focusing on stress, which is the root of the obesity problem.
First aid class
The American Heart Association will conduct a CPR/AED and first aid class Saturday, June 18, at Hagerstown Hotel and Conference Center.
The class covers most common emergencies in children and adults and how to deal with them. Certificates will be awarded upon completion of the class.
The class costs $20. For more information or to register, call Terry Marshall at 301-739-5570.
