Three people were injured Friday morning when two cars collided at the intersection of Virginia Avenue (U.S. 11) and Lincoln Avenue, Trooper George of the Maryland State Police said.

The driver of one car and the driver and a passenger in the other car were taken by Volunteer Fire Co. of Halfway paramedic units to Meritus Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries, George said.

Police responded to the accident at 6:50 a.m., a supervisor for Washington County Emergency Services said.

The intersection was closed until 7:56 a.m. after both cars were towed away and the scene was cleared.

The Washington County Sheriff's Office handled the wreck, but George arrived on the scene to assist.

Firetrucks from the Williamsport and Halfway volunteer fire departments were also on the scene.
