Rice Road in western Washington County was reopening to traffic effective at 4 p.m. Friday, the Washington County Division of Public Works Engineering and Construction Department announced in a news release.
The road is reopening with a temporary roadway surface of compacted material, the release said. The road will remain open in this condition for approximately six weeks.
The road will again be closed for approximately one week in mid-April for complete paving and markings, the release said.
Rice Road runs north and south along the base of Sideling Hill, about five miles west of Hancock.
